The Network Matters

The Sealight Microplug modules are key technology components in the design of the next generation HFC networks. Sealight’s digital return modules can be used to achieve higher capacity or more flexible version of today’s solutions. Sealight microplug modules provide the functions of today’s digital return systems in a single compact pluggable form factor.

A pair of integrated custom chips (one IC on the transmitter plug-in side and a second IC on the receiver plug-in side) allows the Sealight microplug modules to digitize and transport up to two upstream RF signals over SM fiber links.

The custom chips contain high-speed data converters, Digital Signal Processors and embedded microprocessors to implement a complete state of the art digital return system with unparalleled RF performance.

Sealight provides both 5-45 MHz and 5-85 MHz versions of its digital return modules with a variety of available laser technologies. The digital return modules are compatible with all DOCSIS versions including 3.1

A typical application includes new or legacy fiber node equipped with Sealight’s microplug digital transmitter module, connected via fiber to a Sealight microplug digital receiver module located at the head end or hub location. Sealight digital return solution offers optical transport of one or two multiplexed return signals over long distances without RF signal degradation or added noise.
